about gingerstan

me

I'm Mark Stevenson, a professional web developer/designer, and gingerstan is a design alias I use. I've had the name for a long while and it comes from an old nickname.

I currently work for Lee Creative Marketing as a web developer/designer. The websites I develop work equally well across the range of web browsers available and employ W3C standard XHTML, CSS, Dom Scripting (JavaScript) and Ajax as well as PHP, MySQL databases and the occasional Flash.

I hold two Masters degrees, an MSc Website Design & Development and an MEng Electronic Engineering specialising in Microelectronics.

I've been working in design and development since 1999 and my professional experiences encompass a wide range of company sizes within the technology & IT sector. From large multinationals such as Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (Mixed Signal Digital Design Engineer), medium size national companies such as AIM, now ITIM (User Interface Developer) and small regional companies like Lee Creative Marketing (Web Developer/Designer).

In 2004 I took some time out to fulfil a personal ambition to travel around the world. I travelled for 10 months leaving England to the West and returning from the East. I ventured out to broaden my experiences and understanding of life, passing through North America, Oceania and Asia.

Outside of my professional life my interests are the guitar (many styles but particularly the blues), running, travel and web design & development (yes I enjoy doing it in my free time as well) especially accessibility and best practices.
